For Nothing, by Nicholas Denmon

Undercover cop Alex Vaughn goes deeper than ever into the organized crime family of Buffalo, NY. Motivated by justice and revenge, he seeks out the assassin that laid his friend Jack low.

Professional killer Rafael Rontego traverses the deadly politics of Buffalo’s mafia underbelly. In a city whose winter can be just as deadly as those wielding power, Rontego tries to stay ahead of the game.

Their two worlds collide in this epic thriller that takes the reader on a search for self, justice, and truth.

MY TAKE...Take it to the Mattresses!
For all the Mafia thriller junkies out there...FOR NOTHING is your "fix".

Able to compete with Goodfellas, Sopranos, and The Godfather, Nicolas Denmon has created a story that will have you on the edge of your seat, and unable to put it down.

What first attracted me to this book was the cover. The clever art caught my eye, and as I'm a big believer in judging a book by its cover, I knew the contents would be just as intriguing.

I was right!

When I read the sample, I couldn't get enough...I was hooked! The author's description of every scene and every emotion put me in the center of the pages of this book, and at times, I wondered if it was me who was standing over the body or stepping into the dark alley...

Rafael is a ruthless killer, but Alex is out for revenge. At the center of everything, war is being waged between the Mafia families. Never a dull moment in this action-packed thriller.

Very well organized--no pun intended!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Mafia wars and bloodshed at its best.

Looking forward to book two.

Baggage Claim, by Amanda Tru

Montana native, Rachel Saunders, is looking forward to her all-expense paid weekend trip to New York. But, when her luggage is lost and she is accosted by an infuriating Homeland Security agent named Dawson Tate, events take a dangerous turn. Now, can she and Dawson elude their enemies and prevent a terrorist attack before the bomb in their possession is detonated in the center of Manhattan--all while keeping their obvious attraction to one another in check? Find out in this Romantic Thriller.

Not my usual choice of book, but I'm glad I read this! In fact, once I started reading, I couldn't stop until I found out what happened next...can't wait for the next book.

And that Dawson...great job of character development, Amanda Tru! Dawson Tate is the exact type of man I like in a hero. Forceful, yet gentle.

Well thought-out plot, and a clean romance. I laughed, I gasped, and even had several "awwww" moments when I read this. What more could you want in a book?
I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy romantic thrillers, and even if it's not your usual type...give it a try. I'm glad I did.

Electronic Crime in Muted Key by Nick Wastnage

Enter the enigmatic world of Barry Carter; a man who lives two lives and believes his sinister plan to scam millions and fake his death is foolproof. He’s right, until his bitter lover and distraught wife team up to seek him out. They want retribution but are stopped by the police, who’ve found Carter first and want to question him about a murder, a stolen dead body and an international cyber crime. A frantic chase ensues and there can be only one winner.

My take:

This is a very fast paced, well written novel by a veteran writer. As a story-teller, Nick Wastnage has the unique ability to make the fictional feel and appear real.  The story never lets up as you are taken through the devious twists and turns of a plot hatched by Barry Carter, a man of double lives. As so often happens a simple plot turns out to be just the opposite and Wastnage weaves the threads together through the lives of various miscreants with the subtle hand of a pro.

Verdict: READ IT!
